# Privacy

Name check has no accounts, analytics, cookies or ads. What you type stays in your browser. The page sends requests only to the public services it checks, and only when you submit a name or open a link.

## Who is responsible

Jakub Szczepaniak runs Name check. As the controller, he collects no personal data, and has no access to your names or results. Contact: [jakub.page](https://jakub.page/).

## What is sent, and to whom

- **Hosting.** Netlify serves the site. It receives your IP address, browser details and the address you open. Netlify processes this to deliver and protect the site, under its [privacy policy](https://www.netlify.com/privacy/), and keeps it for as long as that policy says.
- **Automatic lookups.** When you submit a name, or open a name link with one, your browser sends it — or the domain, package or account form of it — straight to the public services listed with each lookup. They see your IP address like any site you visit, and handle it under their own policies. Name check reads only whether the name was found and keeps only that result, on your device.
- **Manual links.** A service gets your search only when you open its link.
- **Name links.** A link to Name check can carry names after the # sign. Your browser never sends that part to Netlify; the page removes it from the address bar and adds the names as if you typed them.

## What stays on your device

Your names and their results, which names are in the table, and the lookups you excluded stay in this browser's local storage, so you can come back to them. They never leave your device and the author can't see them. Anyone using this browser can; delete a removed name with its Delete, or everything with “Delete all data on this device”. A private window keeps nothing after it closes.

Exporting a file, importing one, pasting an AI's answer and the copy buttons stay on your device too: the file is built in your browser, an imported file or answer is read there, and copied text goes only where you paste it — an AI service you paste a prompt into gets it under its own terms.

## Legal basis and your rights

The hosting logs rest on a legitimate interest in running and securing the site (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)). You may ask for access to, correction or erasure of your data, restrict or object to its processing, and complain to a supervisory authority — in Poland the President of the Personal Data Protection Office ([UODO](https://uodo.gov.pl/en)). Name check holds nothing about you beyond your own device; write to the contact above for anything Netlify holds.
